Crucero “Allure of the Seas” (Encanto de la mar)

Delivering a hydronic solution ensuring the highest comfort levels on the world’s largest passenger vessel.

The challenge

The "Allure of the Seas" is, together with its sister "Oasis of the Seas", the world’s largest passenger vessel. With 361m in length, 66m in breadth and 72m in height, this vessel has a maximum capacity of 6 360 passengers on 16 passenger decks and 2 100 members of staff. Built by STX Europe in Finland, the "Allure of the Seas" is the most important single product ever exported from Finland.

To fulfil the requirements of this luxury liner, STX Europe needed a strong, knowledgeable partner who could deliver a hydronic solution ensuring the highest comfort levels on all parts of the ship as well as operational efficiency and reliability.

The solution

Following successful cooperation between the local TA Hydronics team and STX Europe on previous projects, TA Hydronics was asked to support the development of a hydronic solution which would ensure a well balanced and controllable cooling system.

With the support of the experts at TA Hydronics’ Engineering Support Centre, the hydronic calculations were done in detail which paid off during commissioning, where, according to the contractor, commissioning time was cut by 66% compared to previous projects with less detailed calculations.

The owner of the vessel was also extremely pleased with the controllability and accuracy of the system when they performed control measurements as part of the hand over process.
